Since its establishment in 2003, The Cornwall Foundation has made more than $215,000 in grants, and its total annual award budget has risen to $20,000 per year. In the past five years, The Cornwall Foundation has awarded the following grants:

2020

  • The Cornwall Food and Fuel Bank, to meet increased demand resulting from the Covid-19 outbreak

  • The Cornwall Historical Society, to update its exhibit storage facilities

  • The Grumbling Gryphons Traveling Children’s Theater, for a laptop needed to conduct drama workshops and performances for children virtually, as required by the Covid-19 outbreak

  • Housatonic Youth Service Bureau, for equipment for mental health telemedicine services and telemedicine group support services that it had initiated in response to the Covid-19 outbreak

  • United Church of Christ’s Deacon’s Fund/Minister’s Discretionary Fund, to cover increased assistance needed as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak

  • YMCA Camp Mohawk, for scholarships for Cornwall children attending the co-ed day camp initiated in response to the Covid-19 outbreak

  • The Cornwall Historical Society, to create a new website

  • The United Church of Christ’s Storm Meal Program, for a generator for the parish house kitchen to permit distribution of cooked meals during power outages

  • The West Cornwall Library Association, for a refrigerator and improvements for an indoor, year-round farmers’ market in West Cornwall

  • The Cornwall Association, to update the CornwallCT.org website

2019

  • The Civic Life Project

  • The Cornwall Association, to update and improve the Town’s website

  • The Cornwall Library, for a lecture series

  • The Cornwall Consolidated School, to fund SmartStart

  • The Cornwall Consolidated School, for a yoga program

  • The Food & Fuel Fund, to support collaborative projects with the Cornwall Consolidated School, The Volunteer Fire Department, and the Food Pantry

  • The Little Guild, for the tent for the Great Country Mutt Show

  • Next Festival for Emerging Artists, for a music education program at the Cornwall Consolidated School and a free concert at Music Mountain

  • Special Olympics of Connecticut

  • The Town of Cornwall, for an air quality monitoring device to monitor the effect of the Cricket Valley power plant

  • The United Church of Christ, for the medical equipment program

  • The Cornwall Agricultural Commission, for a beekeeping workshop

  • The Cornwall Chronicle, for work on its website

  • The Cornwall Consolidated School, for a class trip

  • The Cornwall Historical Society, for textile conservation

  • The Grumbling Gryphons Children’s Theater, to clean and repair costumes
